A Beautiful Blue Wedding

I know I write quite a bit about color and the effect of color on our emotions. But can you deny that when you look at the photograph above that you do not want to let out a soft sigh? Blue is a wonderful color, and with it's cooling properties, during the blazing hot summer it can actually help to physically cool you down, kind of neat, huh! This blushing bride and her bridal party sported a soft robin egg blue as their accent color. It was a wonderful day, slightly overcast with a light breeze every now and then. The simplistic nature of the bouquets was reflective of the overall ambiance of the event. The light blue hydrangea have such a beautiful texture. Hydrangeas also can proudly brag about their size, making them one of the most widely used flowers in weddings. There's nothing else quite like it.

One of our own

June 5th was a very special day for us here at The Blooming Idea. One of our very own Miss Rebecca married her one true love. It was an absolutely beautiful day, just fit for our stunning bride.
Her colors were a combination of dark purples, soft sage greens and whites, which created a fresh and regal ambiance for her and her guests. Each attendant carried a beautiful purple bouquet with one variety of flower. She used, stock, sweet peas, tulips and a few other varieties. This effect created dimension and distinction between the attendants bouquets while maintaining the same colors. This is a fun way to spice things up a bit and give a little more visual impact by grouping. Rebecca was a stunning bride, and we were all so very proud of her. Thank you for letting us be a part of such a special day. We will miss you.

Carlton Woods Golf Tournaments

As I've mentioned before May is our busiest month so I still have lots of events to catch up posting about, and they are just all so beautiful I can't help but share them with you! The following few events were for a golf tournament at The Carlton Woods Country Club. This first picture includes rich reds, coppers, oranges, and browns creating a romantically rich and intimate setting for dinner. Don't forget about the details. It's amazing how event he smallest detail can add the the overall experience of your guests. These hypericum berry wraps add just the right amount of color against the chocolate satin napkins anf rich linens provided by The Linen House.

The tricky thing with doing back to back events is making sure that each event has it's own distinctive style. It's the challenge we thrive on. Incorporating different flower types and colors can create an entirely new ambiance for your guests and help to distinguish between events.

This photograph was for a more casual lunch. Now, I don't know about you, but I can't get enough of these giant sunflowers. They are litterally the size of my face, you can't help but smile when you see them. And who doesn't love a casual country feel with sunflowers and blue delphinium?

Jimmy Buffet Happy Hour

What could possibly be more fun than having a happy hour before going to a Jimmy Buffet concert? Stumped? Me too! The Club at Carlton Woods hosted a fun and relaxing happy hour before the Jimmy Buffet concert in May at The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavillion. Tropical paradise with orchids, stargazers, birds of paradise, pin cushion protea, anthirium, hanging heliconia, and giant monstera leaves. Our centerpieces were a fun, contemporary mix of colors and flowers to set the mood for an upbeat and lively crowd!

Client Events from May

May is by far our very busiest month of the year. With weddings, Prom, Mothers Day, Graduation and other parties we are busy busy busy! It's always a wonderful feeling to create beautiful pieces for our clients and these are a few of our favorites. The pictures above is a close up of a beautiful table scape we did for a birthday dinner on the patio. It was a beautiful line of antique green hydrangea with flecks of pink accented by white oriental lilies for a beautiful light fragrance and giant white roses setting atop a bed of mixed greenery.

It was the perfect space for a lovely dinner outside with the wonderful fragrance from the lilies and roses how could you not help but stop to smell the flowers.

These were a few of the pieces we did for a casino themed baby shower... yes I said casino! It was the perfect baby shower for the men and the women. Roulette tables, slot machines, wonderful food catered by The Club at Carlton Woods and amazing florals to add rich color and beautiful focal points throughout the home.

Not only did we celebrate a few birthdays, but we created some stunning masterpieces for a christening in all baby blue and white hues. The ceremony was held at St. Anthony of Paudua in their gorgeous sanctuary. The luscious arrangements brought in beautiful color, texture and fragrance to the stellar ceilings and intricate existing decor.

The party afterwards was held at The Club at Carlton Woods. The arrangements were filled with big beautiful hydrangeas, calla lilies, roses and lisianthus atop fluted vases with accents of ruscus. The beautiful buffet pieces were made on our tall silver candelabras dripping with crystals.

We absolutely love all our custom event work. Make sure to give us a call when you are planning your events we'd love to make something spectacular for you and your guests to enjoy.

Vibrant Contrast

If your wedding is reflective of only one thing, it should be reflective of YOU! The expression of self and love through flowers is a beautiful way to incorporate your personality into your event. Flowers set the ambiance for any occasion and these vibrant colors very perfect for this fun loving bride. Fun textures, contemporary styles and bright colors worked flawlessly together to create an atmosphere that was exactly what she wanted.

When picking your wedding colors, attendants dresses, and flower styles pick something that reminds you of you and your fiance, something that makes you happy and something that will remind you of that beautiful day every time you see something similar. You make it you, we'll make it beautiful!

The Grand Ballroom

The Grand Ballroom at The Woodlands Resort and Conference Center is a beautiful room with extremely high ceilings, thus creating the need for tall luscious arrangements in various designs. Something to keep in mind when you have a large number of guests in a giant room is that their first impression of the room is the one they remember the most. It is statistically shown that when there are a few different styles of arrangements at various levels people stop and take it all in more so than if they are all the same. Plus, it lets you choose a few styles you like.

This wedding we used 3 different designs all simplistic in nature with curly willow and one type of flower. Tall fluted vases filled with white gladiolas and curly willow, tall fluted vases filled with curly willow and a collar of blue hydrangea, and low cylinders with white Asiatic lilies and curly willow tips. The continuous element of the curly willow tied all the arrangements together while creating different textures and focal points with different blooms.

The effect when you walk into the Grand Ballroom with alternating tall and short centerpieces is truly awe-inspiring. Your guests are sure to feel privy to be a guest at such a stunning event. Remember that it's all about the ambiance you create and flowers are the most beautiful way to make any event large or small reflective of your personality.
