Classically White...

White is truly a timeless color, and if your being technical it's really not even a color, rather a shade, but that's just silly trivia. White is a beautiful shade, and even more than it's beauty is what it represents. Purity, cleanliness, honesty, innocence. There are some color schemes that are truly timeless and white is one of them. These beautiful bouquets will still be just as stunning 20+ years from now. We love our white weddings.

Wharf Terrace in the Summer Time...

The Woodlands Resort and Conference Center has multiple outdoor locations for weddings. The Warff terrace is one of the many beautiful locations. With views stretching over the water and into the trees you get this sense of serenity while still in a beautiful city suburb. The Warff Terrace can be dressed up numerous ways, one of which we always recommend to help really set the stage for your ceremony is by using an aisle runner and altar arrangements. These beautiful flower arrangements with pillowing hydrangea in blue, white and antique green mixed with roses is a full lush addition that really pulls everything together to make it a personal event.

Orchid Plants

Phaleanopsis orchids are some of the most exquisite flowers on this earth. They are truly striking in their shape and delicate nature. What is even more amazing? We have a wonderful selection of different colors shapes and sizes here at The Blooming Idea. We hand pick our orchids from a local grower. Not only do we love supporting local businesses but we LOVE being able to pick the most stunning, most beautiful, biggest, brightest and most unusual. We always have a variety to choose from in stock and are able to get more very quickly if you would like additional plants. Phaleanopsis orchid plants are very easy to care for! Each plant comes with care instructions and a water spray bottle for misting. We recommend that you keep them in a place that is slightly humid (like the bathroom or by the kitchen sink) and away from direct sun light, indirect is best.

Want to learn more about these beautiful plants? Come stop by for a visit and any of our fabulous ladies in the shop would love to help you pick out the perfect orchid for you to enjoy!

Peonies

Peonies are one of the most beautiful flowers I've ever seen, especially because they are so fragrant. They are also one of the most requested wedding flowers all year round, unfortunately they also have one of the shortest seasons. And yes you can find them out of season but they will usually cost three times as much and be three times as small, which is why unless they are in season, we will always suggest suitable substitutes.

So when is the best time for peonies? Mid-April is usually when we start to see them. They stick around until about June, sometimes you can find them through Mid-June. Any other time of the year they usually aren't as impressive as during the spring. So if you're dead set on having these beautiful flowers in your wedding, shoot for a time in the spring.

Peonies usually come in a soft white, blush pink, baby pink, coral and fuschia. They vary in sized as well, from small round almost golf ball sized buds to lush open blooms that can get as big as your hand. Usually they range in between. But they are always crowd pleasers, and always a beautiful addition to wedding or event flowers.

Carlton Woods Wedding in Purple

Purple and green are fresh and fun colors and for the summer always inviting. This beautiful wedding at the Woodlands United Methodist Church in the Robb chapel was absolutely stunning. The bride had fabulous taste and paid attention to the details, like having arrangements on the corner of her buffet tables, and having a stand alone bird gave for cards with a beautiful cascading arrangements on the top.
Her bouquet was a stunning mix of eggplant calla lilies, dendrobium orchids, hanging amaranths, lisianthus, and bear grass with a stunning broach attached to the ribbon wrap.
The groom wore a boutonniere of lisianthus and dusty miller with amaranths accents. Her altar pieces were a beautiful mix of purple gladiolas, orchids, spider mums, and stock with large tropical leaves.
Her head table was a fun arrangement of white hydrangea with dendrobium orchids blooms suspended in the vase and above the arrangement.

Summer Weddings {part 2}

Some weddings just take your breath away. I am a sucker for peaches, corals and creams. THis bridal bouquet with peonies, garden roses, hypericum berries, freesia and miniature calla lilies was soft, full of beautiful fragrance and breathtaking!
The Forest Deck at The Woodlands Resort and Conference Center is always busy, especially during the summer. The gorgeous outdoor setting is a perfect venue for such a special occasion. With a few perfectly placed floral accents for the wedding ceremony, the bride and groom were able to customize such a large outdoor space to reflect their theme and personalities.
The Glass Ballroom at The Woodlands Resort and Conference center has a stellar view of the water and the golf course. These beautiful colors of blue, green and white were a bright and calming addition to the room. The fun textures of the spider mums and the vibrant color of the delphinium popped against the fluffiness of the white hydrangeas.
The sanctuary at St. Anthony of Padua's Church in The Woodlands is a beautiful and open space. I love the natural lighting that always highlights the beautiful flowers around the altar and down the aisle.
These stunning pew decor clusters of peonies, hydrangea and seeded eucalyptus were soft, and oh so bridal! While the altar arrangements were created in a traditional style with green and white flowers including: hydrangea, cushion mums, button poms, hypericum berries, bells of Ireland and gladiolas.
The Emerald Ballroom at The Woodlands Resort and Conference Center has a beautiful view overlooking the Forest Deck and all those gorgeous windows let in such amazing natural light, that as you probably guessed, highlights the centerpieces so well. These beauties were a combination of hydrangea, peonies, ranunculus, hypericum and mixed greens.
While the taller arrangements had a few more additions, their traditional style and fabulous colors, helped to draw attention upwards throughout the room creating a canopy effect that helps make such a large room feel more intimate.
I love simple cakes, and these clusters are perfect! The Forest Deck with our fabulous white curtains and altar arrangements of soft fluffy hydrangeas were a fabulous backdrop for the bride and groom. There is something fabulous about Summer time and we love being a part of all the amazing events that take place!
