Hitomi comes to Houston!

Hitomi was able to make it to Houston this last month and we were luck enough to be able to go see her show. Hitomi is a fabulous designer, whose creativity is endless. We love going to see different designers so we can become inspired and take some of the ideas we see back to our shop! Here are just a few of the many things we learned about from the fabulous Hitomi!
Bouquet wraps, decorative rings and bracelets.
Movement in bouquets, using armatures and line to create interest.
Some more fabulous bouquets and lovely color combination.
 Taller arrangements with armatures.
Accent arrangement, centerpiece ideas and bold color!

Allied Florists of Houston March Meeting

A Wedding to Remember was a well deserved title for this wonderful event. Each month Allied Florists of Houston gathers at one of the local wholesalers and puts on an amazing program with famous designers for a night of amazing food, beautiful flowers and most important; education. This month we were invited by Greenleaf Wholesale as one of the premier wedding florists of Houston to put together a table scape for their gallery. We gladly accepted the challenge and decided to go all out.
We chose a fun a fresh color pallet with white, black and green and kept the arrangements very visually interesting with beautiful textures and contrast. Our table scape consisted of multiple pieces. First, we used 4 12x12 mirrors on the table and each mirror had a different type of arrangement. Each arrangement was in a square glass cube, just at different heights. Using a variety of black, green and white flowers we created depth and interest with impact. Succulents, monkey tails, hypericum berries, lisianthus, roses, naked sunflowers, amaranthus, calla lilies and green dendrobium orchids were a few of the varieties we favored.

Each place setting had a beautiful black tone on tone zebra print plates with a beautiful green tropical leaf to take the place of a traditional charger. Green wine glasses and personal rose arrangements made the table that much more stunning and unique. The gorgeous linens donated by Cathi at The Linen House added the finishing touch. It was truly a night to remember and we were proud to take part in a beautiful display of stunning designs.

Southerns Christmas Show with Jim Granger

A few weeks ago we made another treck down to one of our wholesalers to see the first of many Christmas shows. During October our local wholesalers host a number of featured designers to show off the newest and most glamorous Christmas decor. Christmas for the floral industry starts in October!

We shopped for Christmas goodies and beautiful decorations for the shop, so make sure to come by and see us all decked out for Christmas! As a hint, I will say we will be full of glitz, glamour, and sparkle...

We watched as Jim Granger AIFD created beautiful designs for all the holidays. Here are some pictures of his wonderful designs:

September Allied Show

This month we had the opportunity of seeing some local talent at the September Allied Florists of Houston show. There were 4 featured designers: Patricia Gomez AIFD, Jason Holguin, Lucas Chavez, and our very own Frances Egbert TMF.

Their challenge was to create 3 designs using only one dozen roses. The theme of the night was dozens designed differently. We at the shop love to come up with new innovative ways to recreate the classic dozen roses. It was fun to see local talent show their stuff.
