Falling in love with Fall

There is something irresistible about the rich colors of fall. They are fiery and vivid and typically evoke strong passionate emotions that make most of us let out a verbal "ahhhh" when (or more appropriately if) we see the colors of the season change.

As the summer sun continues to beat down I am reminded as we are beginning to create beautiful fall wedding portrait bouquets that fall is (hopefully) right around the corner. The wedding pictured above had such a fun and lively bridal party. The rich rusty colors with accents of chocolate were perfect for this intimate outdoor setting.

Here at The Blooming Idea we do free consultations for all events. We simply ask that you call to set up an appointment. We take consultations Monday through Friday as early as 9:00 am or as late as 4:30 pm. We like to reserve our Saturdays for the events of the day, but if you are coming from out of town or have other complications we would be happy to find a time that works best for you.

We encourage you to have chosen your date, venue and basic colors of the event before coming to see us. Most often you'll base your flower choices off your color scheme which usually incorporates your linens or Bridesmaids dress colors. If you have a swatch or pictures, we'd love to see them. It's also a great idea to bring pictures of arrangements, colors, designs and set ups that you love. It gives our consultants a great vision of the style you are trying to achieve.

You should plan on spending anywhere from 1 to 2 hours with us as we talk about all the details of your event. Our expert consultants are here to guide you every step of the way. Pretty in Pink

When the weather actually cooperates it is such a beautiful back drop to have an even outdoors. There is nothing quite like the artistry of nature to set a romantic tone for a wedding recpeption. This wedding was in the brides home. Her yard was just perfect for her romanitc ceremony.

Different flavors of soft pinks, limey greens and creamy whites were used throughout the decor. The bride wanted to transform her yard to make it feel like much more than just another garden party. We began at the gates with beautiful grapevine wreaths to welcom her guests. The pathway to her front door was lined with giant pommander balls on black shepherd hooks, introducing her colors in a fun and lively way.

At the entrance to the yard we used our black iron arch and decorated it and the fence with a flowing garland with fresh blooms intertwined with ribbon. Throughout the yard we used beautiful black lanterns with hot pink sheer ribbon to accent different tables and alcoves. The aisle mimiked the entry to the home with giant pink and green pommanders on shepherd hooks which popped against the dark green surroundings.

Each table centerpiece was a different mixture of coordinating pink, white and green blossoms to create variety and textural differnces between the designs. All the pieces helped to set the perfect romantic tone for this bushing bride.

Textural Interest with Vibrant colors

Some brides just take your breath away, and this was a weekend full of them. Sam was such a sweet natured and well rounded lady. I loved her vibrant personality which we echoed in her flowers. Funky but natural, textural yet coordinating, rich and vibrant. Sam's bouquet was in a more natural handtied style I call a sprial handtied. It's made in the european fashion where it can literally stand on it's own without a vase. Benefits? It's more balanced, creates a natural feel, and is easier to carry (especially for those really heavy bouquets). We mixed miniature green hydrangea, red gerbera daisies, yellow tulips, circus roses, bells of Ireland and a mix of greens to get this perfect color combination that was truly reflective of the couple's bright future.

We created smaller mimics of the bridal bouquet for her attendant, which against their black dresses looked absolutely fabulous! The mothers also carried small bouquets called tussie mussies in silver holders, while the men were dressed up with a rose and bells of Ireland blooms with wire accents.

One of Sam's attandants approached us after the ceremony and secretly whispered "I really should have come to see you guys for my wedding, if I had only known." What a wonderful compliment, so Thanks!

One of my favorite parts of the ceremony decor was the heavy spread of rose petals in vibrant reds, oranges, and yellow hues. The Father of the Bride told me that as tthey turned the corner to walk the last 50 feet of the aisle they couldn't help but take a second to smell the lovely fragrance from the petals.

Her centerpieces were untraditional in shape and vibrant in color. We used oblong rectangles with grass accents in the vase. The vibrant colors against the black diamond pattern table cloth was the perfect contrast to really show them off. She was such a pleasure to work with and we sincerely wish her the best of luck and hope to see her again!

Vibrant Purples

When I see purples I can't help but think of one word... Royalty! The richness of the hues lends itself to a sultry depth, no wonder it was the preferred color of royalty. With a mix of roses, lisianthus, stock, spider mums, snap dragons, lilies and hydrangea it was a beautiful combination of texture and dimension.

We used 3 different styles of arrangements throughout the Emerald Ballroom at The Woodlands Resort and Conference Center. The first was a tall arrangement  with a mixture of the flowers used throughout the wedding in fuchsia and purple tones. The second was a low cube arrangement with a pave'd effect for a colorful clustered impact in the center of the table, and the third was a trio of vases with submerged snapdragons and floating candles. It's always nice to have a variety of light sources to create a more intimate mood, and the floating candles definitely adds to the romantic ambiance.

The Yellow Rose of Texas

Themed weddings are on the rise and this sweet Texas bride got her inspiration for her flowers from the famous yellow rose of Texas. For her bouquet we used beautiful yellow roses, white dendrobium orchids and crystal accents. It was the perfect ball of sunshine for her overcast (and perfect photo weather) day.

Her centerpiece designs consisted of half low and half tall arrangements with a wildflower fill including blue hydrangea, stargazer lilies, daisies, blue delphinium and yellow roses. Her decor consisted of some sea side accents and fun country toe tapping tunes.

Sweet 16

Who said you can't have flowers for every major event? Even if we were told no, I'm not sure any of us would listen! We LOVE to party and no party is complete without floral decor. It sets the perfect mood and creates an overall ambiance better than any other element of your decor. With this classic Red black and white color scheme I'm sure it will be a party that is remembered for years to come! We created some beautiful fragrant centerpieces for this Sweet 16 party! If your going to party, you might as well do it right, right? Alternating styles of centerpieces created more impact throughout the room. The star of the night even had her very own star studded bouquet.

Pink Pastel Peonies

We always love hearing from our brides after the wedding. Especially when the event was so memoriable. Often times we find ourselves falling in love with a color pallet or design scheme. This was one of those events, and to my surprise I opened my inbox this morning to find this sweet note:

"Thanks again for your beautiful work. I absolutely LOVED all the flowers!"

A Summer of Fiery Love

When the temperature starts to climb and the sun is our on a regular basis all the colors around seem to be much more intense, letting everyone know that summer is finally here (not to mention the 100+ degree days). With all the heat and sunshine it seems fitting to create some hot and fiery pieces to showcase this couples big day. The mixture of lilies, gerbera daisies, roses, curly willow, hypericum berries, safari sunset and bells of Ireland made for some visually stimulating colors that were reminiscent of hot, passionate, summer days.

The reception decor incorporated 3 different centerpiece designs. The first was a beautiful cylinder filled with coordinating flowers in hot colors, the second was a cluster of blooms attached to the top of antiqued lanterns and the third small clusters of blooms attached to a miniature wrought iron candleabra, just for a touch of color. The tiered cake made a big statement with layers of cake alternating with flowers in a variety of fiery oranges and reds. The cinnamon accents throughout the room carried the spicy theme to each table. It was another successful hot summer night filled with gorgeous flowers and a beautiful bride.
