TSFA Convention 2011... part 2

On Friday night a bunch of the designers from the shop took a special trip down to an event supply company in Houston and each had the opportunity to use anything in the warehouse to create a themed tablescape.
The designs were used for the 20th anniversary dinner on Saturday Night for the Texas Floral Endowment Association; which provides a number of various scholarships to florists nation wide.
Some of the themes for the tables were: Texas, Mexico, England, Japan, India, Bali, Holland, France, Italy, Africa and Morocco.
Mary designed the Bali table which was chosen for the VIP's of the night.
Each designer got to pick out the linens, table accessories, flowers, containers, napkin decor, chair cushions and sashes.
It was fun to see all the different styles of arrangements, and the designers interpretation of the country through their use of colors and various flower choices.
The warehouse had an amazing variety of decor options. It was every decorators dream!

Our ladies had a fabulous time learning new tricks and working with different props. One of the best parts about convention is all the exposure to styles and ideas that you may not experience on an everyday basis. Stay tuned for more convention fun!

TSFA Convention 2011... part 1

July is convention month for the Texas State Florists Association, and this year it was held in our backyard at The Marriott Hotel on the waterway. Mary was in charge of all the volunteers and hands on classes, and was elected Retail Director for the 2011-2012 year! Because she gets so involved we all had the opportunity to participate in the classes and design work for the show. The next few posts will be a recap of some of the beautiful arrangements that were at the convention, many of which our very own designers created!

These two gorgeous arrangements (made by us!) were framing the entrance to the trade show. On Saturday Morning there was a ribbon cutting ceremony (which was really a ribbon made with flowers and a garland of greens) and the ribbon tied to the bamboo in these beauties!
We also did that arrangements for the Botanica booth, the Flower shop network booth and in other areas of the show.
Doesn't the arrangement of hydrangea remind you of a cloud? I just wanted to lay my head on it!
How about 200 extremely long stemmed roses for next valentines? Sign me up! Stay tuned for lots more pictures from our fabulous convention weekend!

Beautiful Contrast

Yellow and blue has been a popular summer color combination. It's a fabulous pair with such vibrant contrast you can't help but admire all the color.
Her ceremony was at The Woodlands United Methodist Church in the Robb Chapel. She had simple decor of greenery swags for the pews. which added the perfect touch and created a beautiful line of sight up towards the altar area.

Her reception was also at The Woodlands United Methodist Church in the Wesley Ballroom. The big arching windows let in the perfect amount of light to really show off the flowers.

Pink Vistas

...or rather pink in the Vista Ballroom at the Woodlands Resort and Conference Center. There is something so beautiful about a pop of bright color in this ballroom, with all the windows and chandeliers. We used white hydrangea, pink gerbera daisies and lavender spiders in a beadermier style for the centerpieces and buffet arrangement, while the bridesmaids bouquets were filled with pink gerbera daisies and purple stock. The brides bouquet was done in mostly creamy whites with accents of lavender for just a touch of color.

The Yellow Rose of Texas

Yellow and teal have become a popular color combination for this years summer weddings. The intensity of the yellows against calming teal blues lends itself to be a very soothing and highly complimentary color pallet.
Overlooking the lake by the club house at Augusta Pines her outdoor ceremony had a beautiful backdrop. We used our wrought iron square arch covered in draping greens and yellow and white arrangements to give the couple a nice frame for the bridal party. The aisle was adorned with curling shepherd hooks and hangning vases with floating yellow roses.
With accents of yellow blooms on her cake table and candy bar it was a the perfect contrast to the teal linens used throughout the reception.
Her table centerpieces were a combination of 3 different designs using white and yellow blooms which added just the right amount of visual interest and depth to the room.

Vivid Colors with a Tropical Feel

The summer is always a great time to throw a party, and with so many things to celebrate we've been busy all summer long! Bright orange tulips, purple lisianthus and dendrobium orchids were a fun and vibrant combination for this lovely party. The movement and textures kept the arrangements interesting and youthful. Party in Style

2 girls + pink flowers + family and friends = one amazing party!

With garlands above the doors, a curtain of flowers in front of the window, and tulip centerpieces ti was the perfect combination for a celebration never to forget!

Just a Pinch of Purple

As you walked into this wonderland of silky draping white fabric and purple uplighting you couldn't help but stand in awe as the gorgeous arrangements took center stage. With a base of silver and white green and purple accents the flowers took you by surprise in every way.
The bride found these beautiful silver faux curly willow trees in square silver pots that we used as a base for half of the arrangements in the Emerald Ballroom at the Woodlands Resort and Conference Center. The hanging candles and orchid blooms created a beautiful canopy above the guests white the cluster of blooms at the base created a gorgeous focal point at each table. He lower arrangements were a beautiful ring of coordinating blooms around a glass cylinder with a floating candle. It was just the right combination to create a room that felt like part of a palace.

Sea Food Buffet... Fish Anyone?

The annual sea food buffet at the Fazio club house is one of our favorite events. It's always fun to add a little surprise in the flowers. Last year it was goldfish, this year we opted for the beta fish! They swam around in the larger showpieces. He was gorgeous and fit in perfectly with the vibrant blues and greens.
We always love using tropical greens and unusual flowers for fun textures and shapes. The green cymbidium orchids, dendrobium orchids, vibrant blue hybrid delphinium and green spiders was the perfect combination for big impact with a tropical feel.

Green Machine

... have you ever seen that drink? Well aparently it's supposed to give you a super boost of energy when your feeling drained. I think we get the same type of "boost" from all the gorgeous flowers we work with, because although May was crazy and we were all exhausted we just kept on goin {kind of like the energizer bunny}

The last week in May was filled with one event after the other. Each day was something new and different. One of our favorite events was the CMMA event at the Niklaus club house at Carlton Woods. It was all purples and greens with a contemporary flair. The showpiece was built with bamboo orchid trees and clustered artichockes, eggplant, roses, cymbidium orchids, tropical leaves and lily grass. The table centerpieces were a smaller version of the showpiece in a clear glass cube with artichokes, eggplant calla lilies, lavender roses and green and lavender scabiosa.
