Texas State Florists Convention 2012... Fredricksburg {part 1}

 Education is vital in our industry and we take pride in being at the forefront of new trends and techniques. Mary, {the owner} is on the board of directors for many different floral organizations in the Houston area and throughout the state, one of which is the TSFA {Texas State Florists Association}.  Each year they hold a convention in a different city where top designers, suppliers, and growers from across the nation come to educate and inspire.

 The convention is an entire weekend filled with shows, luncheons, forums and lots and lots of flowers!

 There are always inspiring arrangements, and new techniques that we love to bring back home and use in our own designs.

And always, we get to see some of the most beautiful flowers available, learn about new blooms and find new favorites.

Black and White Polka Dots

 Polka dots are so fun, youthful and always lively when paired with white and yellow! This bridal bouquet of yellow and white roses, white daisies, white freesia and crystal accents was wrapped with a fun crystal ribbon. The traditional style of the bouquet let the fun and fragrant flowers shine.

 The bridesmaids carried similar bouquets with tufts of black and white polkadot ribbon loops  with yellow roses and white daisies.

 The ceremony was held at St. Anthony of Pauda Church in The Woodlands. The traditional altar arrangements with yellow gladiolas, white hydrangea, yellow roses and white daisies framed the bride and groom during their ceremony.

 The reception was held in the Emerald Ballroom at The Woodlands Resort and Conference Center. With alternating high arrangements of forsythia branches and daisies, and low arrangements using lanterns with florals wreaths the tables were a fun mix of classic and whimsical.

 The table numbers were incorporated into the arrangements by hanging them from ribbon and attaching them to the lanterns making them easy to see and a fun part of the arrangement.

The cake was decorated with yellow miniature garden roses and daisies in a sloping cascade down the side of the cake tiers.

July Weddings {part 3}

 Filled with bright colors and warm summer days, July is never a disappointment when it comes to beautiful weddings. This stunning display of pink hydrangea hot pink roses, greenery and tulle across the arch created a soft background for the blushing bride and handsome groom. Their reception was held in the Emerald Ballroom at The Woodlands Resort and Conference Center. The tall centerpieces with orange lilies, hot pink miniature garden roses, and alstromeria were perfect accents of color throughout the room.

 Peachy keen! These beautiful salmon colored miniature garden roses white spider mums and orange lilies mixed together in low glass bowls coordinated perfectly with tall arrangements of gladiolas, hydrangea, and lilies.

 Long and low arrangements are perfect for long head tables where you don't want to block conversation or have a large tall arrangement in the middle of the bride and groom.

Pink weddings are always popular. This reception held in the Emerald Ballroom of The Woodlands Resort and Conference Center. The contrast of light and hot pinks is a soft and fun pallet illuminating the ballroom with a feminine and romantic flare.

July Weddings {part 2}

The most beautiful things about flowers, is that they are a product of nature and can be used to create some of the most beautiful things on earth. There are millions of possibilities and anything you can dream we can create! This beautiful reception alternated tall and short centerpieces, using blue agapanthus, alstromeria, bells of Ireland, mixed greens, antique green hydrangea, button poms and roses.

Rose petals around your centerpieces is a fun way to make your table feel more romantic and add visual impact and romance to your centerpiece.

Bouquets are the most personal pieces of any wedding. I always say, if your are going to be picky about one thing in your wedding, let it be your bouquet, especially if you have a tight budget, don't settle for something you don't want. Make sure you don't skimp out on your bouquet (it's alright if your bridesmaids don't have exactly what you imagined) it's your bouquet that will be in all the pictures and with you all day, so get what you want. Do some research and print pictures to show your consultant. Pictures speak a thousand words and help us to know what style you are looking for.

This fun centerpiece with a submerged calla lily is a sleek contemporary design illuminated by a white LED light from underneath.

Ceremonies are always sentimental and sacred and sometimes the chapels are big and towering. The best and easiest way to make you and your guest more comfortable and set the stage for your special day is by adding flowers to the pews, aisle, altar area and throughout the sanctuary. It helps to personalize such a giant space and gives the impression that it's set up just for you on your special day.

Don't forget about putting flowers in the foyer or by your guest book. It sets the tone for what's to come in the chapel!

Yellow and White... A Bright Delight!

These little beauties were just to pretty to pair with a million other pictures. And sometimes it's nice to have the spotlight for some of our favorites. The bridesmaid bouquet on the left is done with yellow miniature calla lilies and yellow freesia, bits of greenery around the collar and yellow ribbon. While the bridal bouquet on the right is a fabulous mix of standard white calla lilies, yellow freesia and a white ribbon wrap. The freesia smells divine and the contrast between the white and yellow is absolutely fabulous, don't you think?

July Weddings {part 1}

 This beautiful bride had a stunning bouquet of white hydrangea, white roses, white peonies and blue delphinium blooms, while her bridesmaid carried a fragrant bouquet of ruby stock with blue ribbons.

 These bouquets were beautiful and also fragrant! We love to encourage our brides, if there are no allergies, to hold something fragrant. Especially since you will be told multiple times throughout the day to hold it right in your face, why not have something that smells divine, right?

 The ceremony was held at the Chapel in the Woods in The Woodlands Texas. With potted hydrangeas along the aisle and stunning wrought iron candelabras with soft and full white and pink arrangements the chapel was decorated beautifully.

 The reception was held at the Woodlands Resort and Conference Center. In such a large ballroom we often encourage the use of multiple styles of arrangements. By having different heights throughout the room you automatically increase the "wow" factor for your guests, plus it makes a big room feel more intimate.

 Don't forget that most weddings and receptions are best completed when all the little details are paid attention. Flowers can brighten up any space in a reception hall. Your place card table, the guest books table, the gift table and buffet tables can all be personalized by using coordinating arrangements.

White Weddings.

 White is the quintessential wedding color. It is the most popular by far, and pair so well with any other color. We love how fresh it is and how much it can brighten up a room. These white arrangements added variety and texture to the reception. By alternating low arrangements of white hydrangea and tall arrangements of white gladiolas and curly willow the room felt more intimate and interesting.

Often times church sanctuaries or chapels can be dark. White flowers are always a beautiful way to bring in some light. This altar arrangement of hydrangea and gladiolas added height and interest to the altar area while complementing the candelabra arrangements on either side.

A Blushing June Bride

 When the weather cooperates in the summer time in Houston there is no place more beautiful to do an outdoor wedding than at The Woodlands Resort and Conference Center in The Woodlands Texas. June weddings are always filled with beautiful colors, gorgeous decor and blushing brides.

This beautiful bride had a fabulous spring mix of green, white, pinks and yellows throughout the ceremony and reception. Her bouquet of tulips was a simple, yet stunning accent to her fabulous dress.

30 years...

How is this for a 30 year celebration? This beautiful arrangements with all white and red roses features a pave'd rose with the number 30 embedded in the red roses with white miniature garden roses and a stunning display of long stemmed red and white roses and crystal accents. Nothing says "I Love You" like roses!

Perfectly Purple Tulips

 Augusta Pines is a beautiful venus for a reception and we absolutely LOVE the staircase in the reception hall! But the best part about Augusta Pines is how beautifully it sets the stage for stunning floral arrangements, especially these fabulous purple centerpieces.

 A great way to wow your guests at  your reception is to use alternating heights in your arrangements. Tall arrangements scattered throughout the room create visual height that helps create a more intimate feel for your guests. These tall arrangements in fluted vases are filled with plum gladiolas surrounded by a cloud of white hydrangeas, While the low arrangements are a mix of white hydrangea and plum tulips.

The bridal bouquet was a beautiful mix of all white blooms including: tulips, roses and peonies, While her cake was accented by white cymbidium blooms and a bed of lavender rose petals.
